If your phone fulfills 2 requirements - compatible and unlocked - it should work with Tello:

1. Compatible
This is something you can check quite easily.
In general Tello GSM-Compatible BYOP devices usually include:
  • Most unlocked, GSM-network phones
  • Most unlocked T-Mobile, AT&T, Cricket Wireless, Simple Mobile, and Straight Talk phones
  • Many 4G LTE phones used on Verizon may also work with Tello GSM as long as they have been unlocked.
  • Only models manufactured for the US market will activate on our network - phones made for overseas markets will not work.

Please don't contact our support team with just the make & model of the device because with just that information we cannot say for certain if it will be compatible with our network.
Here is how you can quickly & easily check compatibility yourself:

You have the Phone to hand:
If you have the device to hand, then you have access to the IMEI and so you can use our online device checker at https://tello.com/bring_your_own_phone.
This is a very reliable checker (our Customer Support team uses the same checker!) so you can trust the results from this.

You don't have the Phone at hand:
If you don't have access to the IMEI, you must look at the device's tech specs and check them off against the 2 compatibility requirements listed below.
The "tech specs" of the phone you have (or are considering purchasing) will contain the information related to these requirements.
You will find them in the description of the device you are thinking about buying (ask the seller directly), in the manual of the device you already purchased or via an online search.

(a). VoLTE
VoLTE means Voice over LTE and provides crisp, clear audio quality and helps prevent dropped calls.
The device must support VoLTE (the type of VoLTE compatible with our network).
Older phone models tend to be missing this feature more often than newer models.

(b). Bands
The device must support (at a minimum) the following set of LTE bands:
  • Band 2 (1900 MHz)
  • Band 4 (2100 MHz)
  • Band 12 (700 MHz)

However, for best service on our GSM network, your phone should have at least 1 of the following bands/frequencies in addition to the above 3:
  • Band 5 (850 MHz)
  • Band 66 (1700 Mhz)
  • Band 71 (600 MHz)

For example, if the phone has bands 2, 4, 12, and 71, then that is ideal.
Phones made for overseas markets and older CDMA-network phones are more likely not to accommodate these band requirements.

2. Unlocked
Whether you device is compatible or not, the phone needs to be unlocked.
Unlocked and Compatible are 2 completely different unrelated requirements.
Our device checker can check for compatibility only - you must check that the phone is unlocked.
So even if you receive the "Awesome" message on our device checker, you still need to check if the phone is unlocked or not.

Contact the existing carrier to confirm the locked status of the device or if you are buying a new phone, confirm with the seller.
Locked phones will not work on Tello and we do not lock or unlock any phones so this can only be checked with your carrier or the phone seller.

In summary, when acquiring a new device, please ensure it supports the 2 technologies outlined above and of course check with the seller or carrier that it is unlocked.
You can also purchase a compatible device (with a free Tello GSM SIM) from us.
See our phones selection.
Note:
Mobile routers (e.g. Netgear) will not work with Tello. Only a Tello GSM SIM will work on Tello. No other SIMs will work. Once you successfully bring a compatible & unlocked phone through our device checker page at https://tello.com/bring_your_own_phone, then simply follow the prompts to acquire a Tello GSM SIM and proceed to checkout.

It’s pretty easy, and we walk you through the steps. Once you purchase your plan and select an ‘eSIM delivery’ then you can choose to either activate your plan right away, or activate later in two easy steps.
  1. Activate your plan– On the order confirmation page there will be a large orange button ‘Activate now’. Hit this if you wish to activate your plan immediately after purchase. If you want to wait, no problem. We will send you an email with the same link to activate at your leisure.
  2. Install your eSIM– Once your plan is activated, then you will need to install the eSIM onto the eligible device you will be using Mint on. To do this you will scan the QR code that appears on screen after you activate your plan. If you close the screen before scanning, again no problem. We’ll be following up with an email that will contain the QR code.

1. You’ve scanned the QR code and opened the installation process, but the screen is frozen on ‘Cellular Plan’. Close the window on your phone, and rescan the QR Code.

2. If you can’t scan the QR code, check and make sure that you have your QR scanner enabled in your Settings.

There are a few easy ways to check if Mint Mobile is the perfect fit for you:

1. Check the coverage map to verify service in your area. Please be aware that outside factors like terrain, building structures, weather, and other conditions may also interfere with the actual service available.
2. If you are bringing your own phone, make sure your device is compatible with Mint Mobile
3. You want to pay for the data you use and save money on your current monthly phone plan
4. You want customer service there for you when you need it
5. You want to be a part of the best community in wireless

Your Cleverness Kit

Visit mintmobile.com/activate
Enter the 11-digit ACT CODE conveniently located on the back of your SIM cart (top right corner).
Follow the steps on screen, they will guide you.

Or

Download our Mint Mobile app (available on iOSand Android)
Enter the 11-digit ACT CODE conveniently located on the back of your SIM cart (top right corner).

Hint:  Keep your 11-digit activation code available until your service has been fully activated.

Starter Kit or Share the Love Kit

Download our Mint Mobile app (available on iOS and Android)
Enter the 11-digit ACT CODE conveniently located on the back of your SIM cart (top right corner).

Bonus: the app will automatically check if your device is compatible and you have coverage in your area!

To transfer your current phone number to Mint, simply select the option ‘Transfer My Number’ during activation. We suggest prepping before activation as you’ll need some information from your old carrier:

-Your account number from your former carrier. Your account number can be found on your billing statement, or you can hit up your provider’s customer service department.
– The corresponding password, pass code or PIN code number.
– The billing address associated with the account.

Unfortunately, once a plan is activated we can’t transfer your number to your current Mint account. So make sure you do it at activation.

Note: Usually the transfer process is pretty quick, but sometimes it may take up to 48 hours to complete and landlines can take up to 5 business days. If you have any questions regarding your transfer, call customer support at 800-683-7392 or chat with us at mintmobile.com/chat. Once the number has been successfully transferred, we will we send you an SMS and confirmation email.

FYI, Mint does not charge a fee for transferring your number, but your less-cool, old school carrier might.

Yes, you can request a new number during the SIM card activation process. You will need to enter your ZIP code and choose the option, “Get a new number.” A new number will auto generate based on the ZIP code and availability in your particular area code.
Any resemblance your new number bears to the geographical coordinates of the Lost City of Atlantis is purely coincidental.

Option 1: Check out how much you’re using right now! Log into your current account and look for the section on your monthly data usage.

Option 2: You can go to your phone’s settings (Settings > Cellular Data for iPhone, or for Android Settings Menu > Data Usage > Select Dates for Android). Do a little hunting around and see what you use.

Option 3: We got you. For a rough idea of how much data you need to check out our handy blog.

Does a fox sleep in the woods? With our Bring Your Own Phone (BYOP) program, you can easily get Mint Mobile on your current device. Just switch out the SIM card and presto!
Compatible BYOP devices include:
– Most unlocked, GSM-network phones
– Unlocked AT&T, T-Mobile, Cricket Wireless, Simple Mobile, and Straight Talk phones
– Most phones with a SIM card
You may need to hit up your carrier to unlock your phone (and major Mint savings).
If you’re still not sure if your phone will work with Mint Mobile, visit willmyphonework.net. Once there, enter your phone’s brand and model, U.S. for country and, under “Carrier,” choose our partner company, Ultra Mobile. (This, however, does not guarantee if the device is unlocked or that the phone will work with our service).

Nope. We’re digital only—no expensive real estate to maintain or rent to pay, baby. That’s one big reason we can keep our costs down and pass the savings on to you.
But that doesn’t mean you can’t ask for help if you need it. Our customer care humans are available 7 days a week 5AM-7PM PST at 800-683-7392 or chat with us at mintmobile.com/chat.

We offer different shipping options depending on how urgently you need your new phone service. Choose between 2-3 day shipping (for FREE), overnight or if you are in a rush we have same day delivery (CA ZIP codes only).

Any orders placed after 2pm CT will be processed and shipped the following business day. Unfortunately, we do not process and ship orders on Sunday or public holidays. Even foxes need a rest sometimes.

Once your order has been shipped we will send you a tracking number, which you can monitor obsessively by clicking the link in the email!

Check our coverage map to verify service in your area. The icons in green will show the expected coverage in that location (outdoors, indoor residential, etc.) for certain device types. Enter multiple addresses/ZIP codes to check all the areas where you live work and play.

Please be aware that outside factors like terrain, building structures, weather, and other conditions may also interfere with the actual service available.

Any doubts then you can test us out with our Starter Kit, available exclusively through the Mint Mobile app. You’ll get a 7-day trial to test where you live, work and play. When you love us then you can purchase a full plan directly from the app.

Depends on your device’s make and model. All plans come with a 3-in-1 SIM card that includes mini, micro and nano sizes to fit your phone. Just punch the size that will fit your phone and use the handy sim ejector tool that we gave you to pop out the SIM tray.

Not sure where your SIM card is located? Check your phone manual or just ask Google for the location of the SIM card in your phone and which size you’ll need.

If you need help inserting the SIM, the Mint Fox will talk you through it step-by-step in this instructional video.

When you order a Mint plan, we give you a second SIM kit – the Share the Love Kit. This is to pass on to a friend who is overpaying on wireless and should be on Mint. Friends help friends save. The kit includes a 7 day free trial of Mint with 250 minutes of talk, 250 texts and 250MB of data. When your friend loves us and purchase a full plan, you will get renewal credit for your next plan and your friend will get $15 of credit to use on their next plan renewal. Sweet, right?

No! Your service must be active with your original carrier in order for them to release your number. Otherwise you could create a rupture in the space-time continuum and everyone will suddenly be walking around in platform shoes and polyester jumpsuits.

All of our full plans and Starter Kits feature a 7-Day Money Back Guarantee for all purchases made on mintmobile.com or using the app. You can cancel your service for any reason within 7 days of activation and we will refund you 100% of the purchase price, including any fees and taxes. Shipping is not refunded.

Got an unused SIM card? We’ll honor returns for these within 10 days of purchase. It must be returned in its original unopened packaging and the SIM card must not be activated (condition counts—we aren’t called Mint for nothing).

Yep. All plans include the Mobile Hotspot feature at no extra charge. The data you use just pulls from your monthly 5G • 4G LTE amount. All you need is a hotspot capable phone.
Reminder: Mobile hotspot is limited to 5GB for Unlimited plans.

After you have tried our service and know what data plan is right for you, then you can choose the length of plan depending on how clever you want to get; 3, 6 or 12 months.

Mint Tip: You can lock in our introductory 3-month pricing by renewing for 12 months.

Log into your account at mintmobile.com/login anytime to view our available plans and pricing.

Per month, baby! So stream away—it comes back. For example, if you buy a 12 month, 15GB plan, you will get 15GB of high-speed 5G • 4G LTE data to use each month for 12 months. Any unused data does not roll over, though. It resets at the end of your data cycle.

Hungry for data? Why wait? You can purchase more data three ways:

i. Add more 5G • 4G LTE data through the Mint Mobile app by selecting “Buy more data” in the menu

ii. Add more 5G • 4G LTE data by logging into your account at mintmobile.com/login and clicking UpData

iii. Message UPDATA to 6700 and follow the instructions. You will need to have money in your Mint Mobile wallet to make this purchase.

Right now, only select eligible Apple iPhones and Google Pixel devices can use an eSIM on Mint, and the device must be unlocked.

An eSIM is just a physical SIM that has gone digital. Instead of you physically inserting a SIM into your phone to join the Mint network, you install an eSIM onto your phone/device. It means you don’t have to wait for your SIM to be delivered, you can activate straight after purchase.

If you are new to Mint, and have an unlocked, eligible device you can choose eSIM at time of purchase.
If you are an existing Mint customer, then log into the Mint app, head to Settings > SIM > Replacement SIM. Right now eSIMs are only available on selected iPhone devices (iPhone XS, XS Max, XR, any iPhone 11, any iPhone 12, or the latest iPhone SE) and Google Pixel devices (some Pixel 3a, Pixel 3a XL, Pixel 4, Pixel 4 XL, Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a 5G, and Pixel 5).

You can’t change the duration of your current plan once it has started. You can, however, set up a new duration to automatically renew at the end of your current plan by logging into your account at mintmobile.com/login.

Sure can. Purchase up to 4 plans per order. Each plan requires a new activation. So give it your friends and family – share the best deal of the year

At Mint, we don’t hide our fees in our plans—we break them out so you know exactly what you are paying.
Subtotal: Cost of the plan chosen.

Regulatory Recovery Fee: The Regulatory Recovery Fee is assessed to help recover Mint Mobile’s administrative costs to comply with various federal and state programs. Please refer to our Terms and Conditions for additional details.

Telecom Tax: This includes any federal, state, county, city, or district taxes that are applicable to the retail sale of prepaid wireless communications services in your zip code.

Shipping & Handling: Depends on shipping option chosen at checkout.
NY PSCS: The Public Safety Communications Surcharge is a state-imposed surcharge collected on the retail sale of prepaid wireless communications services in the state of New York.

CA MTS Surcharge: Between 1/1/2016 and 12/31/2018, the Prepaid Mobile Telephony Services (MTS) Surcharge was collected from California-based consumers on the purchase of prepaid wireless service. It included a combination of certain taxes, fees, and other surcharges, as mandated by the state of California. Effective 1/1/2019, it is no longer applicable. Please go to https://www.mintmobile.com/ca-mts/ for more info on the replacement of the Prepaid MTS Surcharge.

Short answer: You choose. Long answer: All Mint Mobile plans allow you to choose how much 5G • 4G LTE data you need each month—4GB, 10GB, 15GB or Unlimited data. When you hit your data limit, we don’t cut you off, we just slow it down. If you need more data, then you can do a one-time data purchase in your account. Or if you find you are hitting the limit each month, simply upgrade your plan to the next data level at any time.

Your Mint service starts from the time that you activate your plan. Mint Mobile SIM cards can be activated up to 45 days after you receive your SIM.

If the phone is still locked, it will not be able to be used on other services. If unlocked, it can be used on any service with compliant hardware (eg. some devices are GSM or CDMA only).

Yes as long as your device is eligible for a Mint eSIM. Currently only iPhone XS, XS Max, XR, any iPhone 11, any iPhone 12, or the latest iPhone SE are eligible, and they must be unlocked.

To get a replacement eSIM, log into the Mint app, head to Settings > SIM > Replacement SIM.

We give you the first eSIM free of charge. If you ever want to switch back to a physical SIM at any time no problem. Just order a Replacement SIM through account management.

Sure you can. You have up to 45 days from your plan purchase date to activate your SIM card. Don’t worry we will let you know before we deactivate it. If you need more time then please call customer support at 800-683-7392 or chat with us at mintmobile.com/chat.

Yep. You can upgrade your 5G • 4G LTE data size mid-cycle by paying the difference between your current plan and the upgraded plan. You are also able to set the change to occur when your current plan ends. You cannot switch down data mid-cycle, though.

True story: the most common fix for issues with data connection, text messages and domestic and international calling is simply turning your phone off and then back on.

You can also try removing and reinserting your Mint Mobile SIM Card. This essentially re-registers your phone in the mobile network. This will help you with problems related to data connection, text messages and domestic and international calling.

If you continue to experience issues, call customer support at 800-683-7392 or chat with us at mintmobile.com/chat.

On iPhones: Your voicemails won’t immediately appear in your Visual Voicemail screen, even if you currently have messages in your inbox. They will appear once you get a new message, so we recommend you leave yourself a voicemail message after updating your Carrier Settings. Tell yourself how stoked you are about your new savings!

On Androids: To access your voicemail, press and hold the number 1 on your phone’s keypad, or dial 805-637-7456. To reset your voicemail password, type #PWD# on your keypad and hit “Send.” To record a greeting that doesn’t make you want to cringe, you’re on your own. Certain Android users can leverage native visual voicemail on their device.

For non-native-VVM Android devices, we recommend you download a third-party app.

If you have any questions our team of customer care humans can help you out.

On an iPhone:

Go to Settings on your phone.
Select Cellular Data, then Personal Hotspot.
Turn on your hotspot.

On Android phones:

Go to Settings on your phone.
Select Connections or Networks.
Choose Mobile Hotspot and Tethering.
Turn on your hotspot.

It may differ on different Android devices, so if the above instructions don’t work, give Google search a try.

Unfortunately, Mint Mobile is not capable with wearables like Apple Watches.

It’s pretty easy, and we walk you through the steps. Once you purchase your plan and select an ‘eSIM delivery’ then you can choose to either activate your plan right away, or activate later in two easy steps.

You will need a new eSIM. First, make sure that your new device will be eligible with a Mint eSIM, and is unlocked. If not, then you will need to switch back to a physical SIM.

When you have your new eligible device follow the below steps:

  1. Install the Mint Mobile app on your new iPhone and log in to your account
  2. Click the “Change Device” option in the Account menu
    • If your Mint Mobile account is already using eSIM on your previous device, simply select the “Get an eSIM” option to move your account to a new eSIM on your new device
    • If your Mint Mobile account is currently using a Physical SIM, you have the option of following the instructions on the screen to transfer your physical SIM to the new device, or you can switch to eSIM. To switch to eSIM, look to the bottom of the screen where it says “Want to switch to an eSIM? Order one here” and tap the link.
  3. Follow the instructions on screen to complete the eSIM installation process.

When you switch to a new eSIM, you will keep you current plan and number. No change there.

With our Bring Your Own Phone (BYOP) program, you can easily get Mint Mobile service on your current device. Just switch out the SIM card and presto.
Compatible BYOP devices include:
– Most unlocked, GSM-network phones
– Unlocked AT&T, T-Mobile, Cricket Wireless, Simple Mobile, and Straight Talk phones
– Most phones with a SIM card
You may need to hit up your carrier to unlock your phone.

The IMEI is the serial number that uniquely identifies your mobile phone. In the event that your phone is lost or stolen, reporting the IMEI will completely block service to the phone. To access your phone’s IMEI for your own personal records, please dial *#06# on your phone’s keypad. The IMEI will be displayed on the screen.

If you’re on a prepaid or pay-as-you-go plan, your phone is probably unlocked; however, if you’re on a two-year contract or something similar, your phone is probably carrier-locked until you finish paying it off.

The most reliable way to determine whether or not your phone is unlocked is by calling your current carrier and asking them to verify your phone’s status. You will most likely need to provide your account password (if applicable) and your phone’s IMEI number. You can find this on most phones by dialing *#06# on your keypad.

Phones need to be unlocked prior to activating your Mint Mobile service.

You can get the iPhone SE + 3 FREE months of Premium Wireless when you click here.

Or, head to our phone shop at mintmobile.com/phones to pick out your shiny new toy.

If your phone is GSM and accepts a SIM card, then your phone is most likely unlocked. If you want to double check, try contacting your current carrier to check if your phone is unlocked.

Yep. You just have to switch up a few things on your phone:

  1. Open the Google Play Store on your phone.
  2. Search “Messages by Google LLC”.
  3. Download the Messages app (by Google LLC, of course).
  4. When you open it for the first time it’ll ask to be your default messaging app. Go ahead and click “Yes”.
  5. Make sure you enable chat features in the app settings so you get the whole shabang (nobody wants just half of a shabang).

Thanks to RCS, Android users have access to key features that Apple’s iMessage users have been bragging about for years like read receipts, typing bubbles (three dots ftw), and the ability to send richer media. Now you can send full-size selfies to your friends in HD. Shoutout to Rich, whoever he is, for making it possible.

Note: RCS only applies to Android 6.0 and up. RCS requires a data connection (either WiFi or cellular). Both the sender and the recipient must have RCS enabled in order to send messages through RCS.

You bet. There’s 3 ways you can add more hotspot data to your plan:

i. Add more hotspot and 5G • 4G LTE data through the Mint Mobile app by selecting “Buy more data” in the menu

ii. Add more hotspot and 5G • 4G LTE data by logging into your account at mintmobile.com/login and clicking UpData

iii. Message UPDATA to 6700 and follow the instructions

You will need to have money in your Mint Mobile wallet to make this purchase. If you need more hotspot, but don’t need more data — downsize to our 15GB plan to get up to 15GB of hotspot.

When you are shopping for a new phone, there are a few things you want to look for to make sure you’ll get the most awesome experience on Mint. Check that it is 4G LTE compatible, and is VoLTE friendly. You might want to think about getting a 5G compatible phone, though it is not essential to work on our network.

If the phone has bands 2, 4, 12 and 71, then that is ideal.

Super easy, we have a tool for that. Head over to our Bring Your Own Phone page, and enter your IMEI number (your phone’s ID – we give you instructions on how to find). We can then tell you if we are Mint to be or not.

The older your phone, the less likely it supports 4G LTE and VoLTE which is needed to work on Mint’s network. If you are not sure if your phone supports 4G LTE and VoLTE, then we have an easy-to-use tool that allows you to check. Head to Bring Your Own Phone page by clicking here, enter your IMEI number (we give you instructions on how to find it). We can then tell you if we are Mint to be or not.

If you checked your phone using our compatibilty tool, and found that your phone won’t work on Mint, then we have a fox ton of Android and iPhones available on mintmobile.com/phones. All of these phones support 4G LTE and VoLTE, and work perfectly with our network. Even bettter you can find some starting at under $100. If you have any questions then call or chat with our care humans and they will help you out.

If you’ve got a fever and the only cure is more data, there are 3 ways you can get it:
• Add more 5G • 4G LTE data through the Mint Mobile app by selecting “Buy more data” in the menu
• Add more 5G • 4G LTE data by logging into your account at mintmobile.com/login and clicking UpData
• Message UPDATA to 6700 and follow the instructions. You will need to have money in your Mint Mobile wallet to make this purchase.

Unfortunately, Mint plans do not support smartwatches right now.

Don’t worry, if your payment fails, we’ll let you know via SMS and email. But you won’t be able to use your service until you make a payment by logging into your account or in the app.

You can set up your account as part of the activation process. When you login at mintmobile.com/login, you’ll be able to manage your plan, check your balance, purchase data add-ons, and so much more. You will need to activate your SIM to be able to access your account, though.

You can check your monthly data usage at any time in the app or at mintmobile.com

If you are using less data each month than is included in your plan, then you can downgrade your data at the end of your current plan.

If you find yourself maxing out each month, or adding additional data, then you can upgrade to the next data plan at any time. You just pay the difference.

If you need your Mint Mobile account number, call customer support at 800-683-7392 or chat with us at mintmobile.com/chat.

Easily. This is all done via Account Management or with our fancy and useful app (available for iOS and Android). Open up Account Management and head to Manage Plan. Here you’ll choose whatever you need more or less of – months or data.

Need more data? Then you can choose to switch your plan immediately, at your next monthly reset or at the end of our plan. The choice is yours. You will just pay the additional cost to upgrade.

Need more or less months? You’ll be switching at the end of your current plan. Unfortunately, we can’t switch you around mid-plan. Sorry.

Need less data? Choose it as your next plan.

At checkout and/or activation, you can choose your auto renewal preferences with the payment method you purchased the plan with. How easy is that? You can view, change, or cancel at any time by logging into your account at mintmobile.com/login. You can also cancel by unchecking the opt-in box at checkout or activation.

Your plan will renew at the end of your current plan. We’ll send you a reminder email before your current plan expires. You can use that heads up to review your plan and make any changes to data or duration, or update your payment details so there are no issues when your renewal is processed.

Your 5G • 4G LTE data resets every 30 days on the 3- and 6-month plans. For 12-month plans, it alternates every 30th and 31st day (months 1,3,5,7,9,11 – 30th day, months 2,4,6,8,10,12 – 31st day). That’s a lot to keep straight, so we’ll just send you an SMS whenever your monthly data has reset.

You can cancel your auto renewal payments at any time by logging into your account at mintmobile.com/login. Any changes or cancellations must be made 24 hours before your next plan renewal date.

  • To access your voicemail from a different phone, such as your home phone, you’ll need to set up a password.

How to Set Up Voicemail on iPhone and Android (Any Carrier)

And my heart immediately calmed down, it became hot, even stuffy. Vera spread her arms and legs to the sides, closed her eyes and imagined how she ran naked across the field. Its either shame, or joy, or fear for being seen naked. Everything was pinching in my chest, and in my stomach it was growling, as if I had not eaten for a long time, but I did not want to.

Eat.
