Shailene Woodley Confirms Engagement To &#;Incredible&#; Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers

On Monday (Tuesday IST), Shailene Woodley appeared on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon", confirming her engagement with Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The couple met during the pandemic, and have been together for a while. Woodley spoke about Rodgers as an athlete and how she never expected to get married to one.

Aaron Rodgers engagement: Shailene Woodley on Jimmy Kimmel confirms rumours

While on the show, Woodley spoke about being engaged for a while now. The Divergent actress said that the engagement is not news to them, and the whole situation was kind of funny. "Everybody right now is freaking out over it and we're like, 'Yeah, we've been engaged for a while'". However, the year-old American actress also spoke about marrying an athlete, and how she never thought she would marry one.

"He's, first off, just a wonderful, incredible human being," Woodley said, starting with a string of compliments. She then added that she never thought she would marry someone who "threw balls for a living" even as a little girl. "But he's really just too good at it," she added.

She even revealed how her dog might have been instrumental in the matchmaking process. "When I first met him, I think my dog like pulled me aside and was like, 'If you don't date this dude, I will disown you as my mother, because the three feet that I run with you when you throw a ball is nothing compared to the marathon I'm able to run with him'".

In another confession, Woodley confirmed that she had never even been to a football game before she started dating Rodgers. She spoke about the COVID pandemic, and how all stadiums were closed. American sports were never on her radar, and while she knew Rodgers was a football guy, she did not know what kind. "And I'm still constantly learning," she admitted. The actress also knows him as the guy who wants to host Jeopardy, and not the football QB.

Before Woodley herself confirmed the reports, E! News revealed that the couple had been dating. During the NFL season, they kept things private while still meeting and talking when they could. As per a source back then, the couple was making time for each other while being focused on their career.

E! News also reported that the couple cannot wait to tie the knot, and have shared a 'very intense connection from the beginning'. While it was a sudden engagement, it was not a surprise. Though nothing is confirmed, they apparently met via Rodgers' ex, Danica Patrick.

However, when Rodgers accepted the NFL MVP award, he hinted at his engagement. "I got engaged," the year-old added almost casually as he discussed playing some of the best football of his career. They apparently even spent Valentine's Day together.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - Actress Shailene Woodley opened up about her engagement to Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers during a virtual visit to the Tonight Show.

“Yes, we are engaged. But for us it’s not new news, so it’s kind of funny. Everybody right now is freaking out over it. We’re like yeah, we’ve been engaged for awhile,” Woodley told Jimmy Fallon.

“He’s, first of all, just a wonderful, incredible human being,” Woodley says.

Woodley says she didn’t know much about football before she met the NFL MVP. She’s never been to a game.

“I still have never been to a football game because we met during this wacky, wacky time and all of the stadiums were closed that he was playing in,” Woodley says.

The Emmy nominated “Big Little Lies” actress says she doesn’t know Rodgers as the football star. She knows him as the “Jeopardy!” fan.

“I know him as the nerd who wants to host Jeopardy! That’s the dude I know,” Woodley says.

Aaron Rodgers, winner of the “Celebrity Jeopardy!” tournament, will guest host upcoming episodes of the trivia show. Sports Illustrated reports Rodgers will have a episode run starting April 5.

“Man the show has been so special to me. It’s been a staple at my house here in Green Bay for the last 16 years. Six o’clock watching Alex (Trebek). Trying to get as many questions as I can. When the opportunity came up in that was a dream come true. It really was. To be on there. To get to meet Alex, was such a special moment,” Rodgers says.

Woodley stars in the newly released movie “The Mauritanian” with Packers super fan Jodie Foster. Recently, Foster talked about her Packers fandom on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”

Shailene Woodley confirms engagement to Aaron Rodgers on 'Tonight Show'

Feb. 23 (UPI) --Shailene Woodley confirmed that she is engaged to NFL star Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers while appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Rodgers, 37, recently announced that he was engaged but did not disclose Woodley's name at the time.

"Yes, we are engaged, but for us it's not new news, so it's kind of funny. Everybody right now is freaking out over it and we're like, 'Yeah we've been engaged for a while," Woodley, 29, told Fallon on Monday.

"He's first off, just a wonderful, incredible human being, but I never thought I'd be engaged to somebody who threw balls for a living," she continued.

The actress mentioned how she still hasn't been to a football game due to the COVID pandemic and was not a fan of the sport before meeting Rodgers.

"Before I met him, I'd never seen one football game before. I didn't really grow up with sports, especially American sports. It was never really on my radar. When we met I knew he was a football guy, but I didn't know what kind of a football guy he was and I'm still constantly learning," Woodley said.

"I don't know him as a football guy. I know him as the nerd who wants to host Jeopardy! You know, that's the dude I know. He just happens to also be very good at sports," she continued.

'I don't know him as a football guy': Shailene Woodley talks about fiancé Aaron Rodgers on 'Tonight Show'

It’s official: Shailene Woodley is engaged to “the nerd who wants to host ‘Jeopardy!’”

During an appearance Monday on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” the actress confirmed she and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers are engaged — and that she has a ways to go when it comes to being a football fan, at least by Wisconsin standards.

“Yes, we are engaged. We are engaged,” Woodley said, a ring visible on her left hand during the virtual interview to the show to promote her new film “The Mauritanian.” “But for us, it’s not new news, so it’s kind of funny everybody right now is freaking out over it and we’re like, ‘Yeah, we’ve been engaged for a while.’”

Rodgers first broke the news earlier this month, casually dropping it in his MVP acceptance speech at the “NFL Honors” awards ceremony, but without mentioning to whom. That they had even been dating was something of a shocker.

“He’s first of all just a wonderful, incredible human being, but I never thought I’d be engaged to somebody who threw balls for a living," Woodley told Fallon. “Like, I never thought as a little girl I’d be like, ‘Yeah, when I grow up I’m going to marry someone who throws balls,' but he’s really just so good at it.”

There had been some speculation that Jodie Foster, a Packers fan and Woodley’s co-star in “The Mauritanian,” had perhaps introduced the couple. Foster, however, cleared that up when she told Jimmy Kimmel last week she doesn't know Rodgers.

Woodley did joke to Fallon that her dog may have played a role in her relationship with Rodgers.

“When I first met him, my dog like pulled me aside and was like, if you don’t date this dude I will disown you as my mother, because like the 3 feet that I run with you when you throw a ball is nothing compared to the marathon I’m able to run with him.”

Woodley has yet to experience a game at Lambeau Field and has some serious catching up to do as a Packers fan.

“I still have never been to a football game, because we met during this wacky, wacky time and all the stadiums were closed that he was playing in, so I have yet to go to a football game," Woodley said. "Before I met him, I had never seen one football game before. I didn’t really grow up with sports, especially American sports. It was never really on my radar.”

Woodley, who, like Rodgers, is from California, said she knew he was “a football guy” when they met but she’s still learning about his career. Friends keep telling her to watch highlight reels on YouTube.

“I don’t know him as a football guy. I know him as like the nerd who wants to host ‘Jeopardy!’” Like that’s the dude I know. He just happens to also be very good at sports," she said.

Woodley also talked about traveling to Patagonia on the southern tip of South America in December  — a trip that took four flights, starting with one out of Green Bay — to visit Karun, “the world’s first % sustainable, reusable, renewable eyewear company.”

Jodie Foster talks Aaron Rodgers, Shailene Woodley (and Packers) to Kimmel, but plays it coy about their engagement

Jodie Foster appears in a scene from "The Mauritanian."

Jimmy Kimmel tried his best Thursday night to get to the bottom of the Aaron Rodgers and Shailene Woodley surprise engagement news but he got little help from Jodie Foster.

The Oscar-winning actress and well-known Packers fan was a guest on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" to talk about her Golden Globe-nominated role in legal drama "The Mauritanian," which co-stars Woodley, but talk quickly turned to Rodgers.

"Come on," Foster said, laughing, before Kimmel was even able to get through his first pitch and it was clear Foster knew where it was all headed.

Kimmel played a partial clip of Rodgers' MVP acceptance speech Feb. 6 during "NFL Honors," the NFL's annual awards show, in which he casually dropped his "I got engaged" news and included Foster in a long list of people he thanked as part of "my team off the field."

Foster said she doesn't know Rodgers.

"He just knows I'm his biggest fan," she said.

But she was giddy over getting the name-drop in his speech.

"You see, he said 'my team.' Even though he said 'off the field,' that makes me a Green Bay Packer," Foster told Kimmel. "People keep saying to me, 'No, Jodie, that does not mean you're part of the team,' but it does mean I'm part of the team."

Kimmel pressed Foster about the coincidence of Woodley being her co-star and Rodgers thanking Foster in the speech — a speech, by the way, in which he didn't even mention Woodley by name, simply saying "my fiancee."

"I don't know if that's a coincidence " Foster coyly said, but she and Woodley did spend a lot of time together in an air-conditioned tent on the set of  "The Mauritanian," "talking about our lives, you know, recipes and people we hate and things like that."

"And the Green Bay Packers " Kimmel said.

"And the Green Bay Packers somehow came up," Foster joked.

When news broke that Woodley was Rodgers' fiancee, there was speculation about whether Foster was the one who had introduced them.

Kimmel asked her if she wins the Golden Globe on Feb. 28 for Best Actress in a Supporting Role, will she mention Rodgers in her speech? "Absolutely," Foster said. "I may have to do the whole team maybe. Davante Adams has to be in there somewhere."

Rodgers and Woodley have yet to talk publicly about their relationship. E! News reported the two spent Valentine's Day together in Montreal, Canada, where she is filming "Misanthrope."
