Song List[edit]
Zelda's Lullaby[edit]
Use any time you see the Triforce, the Royal Family Crest, or when you need to establish yourself as a messenger of the Royal Family. For example, when this song is played while standing on the Triforce-shaped crest in the Kakariko Graveyard, the Royal Tomb will open, allowing entry. Playing the tune in front of Darunia's room in Goron City will open the door into his room. Playing this song on the crest at the end of the Zora's River will reveal the entrance to Zora's Domain behind the waterfall. In Great Fairy Fountains, play them on the Triforce symbol and a Great Fairy will appear. If you break a sign and play this song, the sign will be restored. Playing this song near Gossip Stones (one-eyed statues) causes rejuvenating fairies to appear.
Epona's Song[edit]
Use in Hyrule Field to call Epona to your side (does not work as Young Link). Also, playing the song near a cow will earn you a bottle full of free milk (assuming you have an empty bottle).
Saria's Song[edit]
Use anywhere to talk to Saria. Saria will give you a hint as to where you should proceed next. For example, after obtaining the Goron Ruby from the Gorons, the only way of knowing to visit the Zoras for the Zora's Sapphire is to talk to Saria. Also used to cheer up the Goron Elder Darunia before entering the Dodongo's Cavern and to get Mido to let you through the Lost Woods as an adult.
Sun's Song[edit]
Any time you can see the sky (ie., not in a dungeon), play this song to switch between day and night. After playing this song, the game will proceed from either 12:00 noon or 12:00 midnight. This song also freezes ReDeads, but only temporarily. This song can also summon a fairy if Navi turns green.
Song of Time[edit]
First used to get into the Temple of Time. Can move blue blocks bearing the symbol from the Temple of Time. Also can summon a fairy if you play it in front of a Gossip Stone.
Song of Storms[edit]
Use to make it temporarily rain and open secret grottos in certain areas. Can also summon a Red Fairy, to restore all of Link's health and Magic Power, if Navi turns green around an area.
Minuet of Forest[edit]
Use to warp to the Forest Temple in the Sacred Forest Meadow.
Bolero of Fire[edit]
Use to warp to the Fire Temple at the summit of Death Mountain.
Serenade of Water[edit]
Use to warp to the Water Temple at Lake Hylia.
Requiem of Spirit[edit]
Use to warp to the Spirit Temple at the Desert Colossus.
Nocturne of Shadow[edit]
Use to warp to the Shadow Temple in the Kakariko Graveyard.
Prelude of Light[edit]
Use to warp to the Temple of Time in Hyrule Castle Town.
Scarecrow's Song[edit]
Causes a scarecrow to appear that can be helpful in your quest.
The notes of this song can be composed by you. Talk to the scarecrow at Lake Hylia and play a song eight notes long. This song can be changed at any time and it is the only song that will not be recorded with the others on the Quest Status screen.
Frog mini game[edit]
As a child, you can play songs to the frogs in Zora's river for rewards (such as two pieces of heart). Please see the Minigames page for more details.
Fun Songs[edit]

These are songs that don't have any effect in-game, but are fun to play when you want to wind down. (The + icon means that you must press these buttons simultaneously.)

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Wiki Guide
If you ever forget the notes of a song, you can access the song list and their notes from the touch-screen, and input the sequence while reading the notes.
Zelda's Lullaby
The first song you learn is Zelda's Lullaby. To get it, find Zelda in Hyrule Castle and speak to her. Afterwards, Impa of the Sheikah Tribe will teach you the song, telling you it has special powers. Play this song any time you see a Triforce symbol, as it will usually cause something good to happen.
Epona's Song
You can learn this song from Lon Lon Ranch after you meet Zelda and awake Malon's Father. Approach Malon inside Lon Lon Ranch. Stand next to her and click on the touch-screen to use the Ocarina. She will then teach you this song. Play the song anywhere in Hyrule Field to call Epona to you. You can also play it in front of a cow, and it will give you Lon Lon Milk.
Saria's Song
You'll get this from, yeah you guessed it, Saria. You'll be needing this before you can attempt Dodongo's Cavern, as it needs to be played for Darunia. Seek out Saria in the Lost Woods near Kokiri. Follow the sound of the music through the tunnels so you don't get lost, and you'll eventually find your way to the Secret Meadow. At the end of this maze, she will be chilling out playing her song. Talk to her to acquire it.
Song of Storms
You can learn this song only as Adult Link. First you need to head to Kakariko Village and enter the windmill. The man inside of the windmill will tell you about a song a kid played that made the windmill spin faster. Pull out your ocarina and he teaches you the Song of Storms.
Sun's Song
You can learn this song by going to Kakariko Village and heading to the Graveyard. Head all the way to the back of the Graveyard and you should see a Triforce symbol on the ground. Play Zelda's Lullaby and enter the grave. Go all the way to the back room and read the tombstone and you will learn the Sun's Song. This song is useful for freezing the undead and turning day into night or vice versa.
Song of Time
This song is taught to you by Princess Zelda after you retrieve the Ocarina of Time from the moat in front of Hyrule Castle Town. It can be used to make blocks disappear or appear in certain locations, which Navi will alert you to by hovering over the spot.
Minuet of Forest
This song is given to you by Sheik when you wander into the area at the end of the Secret Meadow where you acquired Saria's Song. This song will warp you back at the entrance of the Forest Temple.
Bolero of Fire
This song will be taught to you by Sheik when you enter the Death Mountain Crater. This song will warp you back at the entrance of the Fire Temple.
Serenade of Water
This song will be awarded to you by Sheik. This will transport you to Lake Hylia, nearby the entrance to the Water Temple.
Requiem of Spirit
This is a song that will be taught to you by Sheik upon your arrival at the Spirit Temple. This song warps you back here at the entrance of the Spirit Temple. You will need this song as Young Link to return for the Silver Gauntlets.
Nocturne of Shadow
Taught to you by Sheik when you return to Kakariko Village after having finished the Water Temple. This song warps you to the entrance of the Shadow Temple, on the ledge above the Kakariko Graveyard.
Prelude of Light
Sheik will sneak up on you to teach you this song when you return to the Temple of Time as an Adult to replace the Master Sword. This handy song will warp you back to the Temple of Time whenever you want.
Scarecrow's Song
The Scarecrow's Song the only song in the game for which you can make up your own musical sequence. The only rule is that you cannot have repeating notes (i.e. L, L, L). You can, however, have alternating sequences.
To make the song, visit Lake Hylia as a child and look for a scarecrow by the name of Bonooru. He claims that he never forgets a song, so play him a song that spans exactly eight notes to forever establish it as the "Scarecrow's Song." Revisit him later as an adult, replaying the same song. Now you can play it and summon him at certain points in the game to reach high ledges or platforms. It should be unique for everyone, but you could always use the one below for easy reference.
Check the Scarecrow Locations section for where you can put this song to use!
Ocarina of Time Songs
In Ocarina of Time, Link can learn a total of thirteen Ocarina Songs, most of which are required to complete the quest. Listed below are all Ocarina Songs, how to acquire them, as well as their uses.
Regular Songs
These six songs are taught to Link by various characters found throughout Hyrule and each has a distinctive attribute.
Zelda's Lullaby

- Main article: Zelda's Lullaby
Link will learn Zelda's Lullaby shortly after meeting up with Princess Zelda in Hyrule Castle. It is taught to Link by Impa and is the song of the Royal Family of Hyrule. It's primarily played whenever a Triforce symbol is found, including within Goron City, at the entrance of Zora's Domain, when changing the water level in the Water Temple, and at other times within some of the other dungeons.
Additionally, the song has some mystical properties, such as being able to cause fairies to appear while standing next to a Gossip Stone, as well as in other specific locations when Navi turns green. Link can also play this song to make sign posts appears after they have been chopped down.

The song can be used to summon Epona and as an adult, it is essential to learn this song in order to escape Lon Lon Ranch with Epona. For a complete guide on how to acquire Epona, view the Epona Quest Guide. Despite it appearing as if it is of importance, learning Epona's Song and visiting Lon Lon Ranch all together is completely optional.
At that point during the quest, if Link encounters a Cow, Link can play Epona's Song to fill a bottle with some Lon Lon Milk.

The song is required to progress in the main story on two occasions. First while in Goron City, Link will play the song for Darunia, who will then give Link the Goron's Bracelet. Later as an adult, Link must play the song to Mido in the Lost Woods, allowing him to pass on his way to the Forest Temple.
Throughout Link's quest, he can play Saria's Song and speak with Saria, who will provide Link with some hints on what he needs to accomplish next. Other times playing the song will just cause Link to chat with Navi.

This is particularly useful for a number of quests in the game.
Additionally, Link can play the Sun's Song whenever ReDeads or Gibdos are around, causing them to be stunned momentarily, allowing Link to get some free hits in. There are also a few specific locations where Navi will turn green within dungeons, and if Link plays the Sun's Song, a Big Fairy will appear.
