Upgrade Priorities

Clash of Clans | Builder Base | Strategy Guide | Upgrade Priorities |

Upgrade your building on the right order is extremely important on Clash of Clans and directly affects the gameplay.

With the introduction of the Builder Base the upgrade order is still very relevant, however, the priorities are completely different from the Home Village. With new rules and loot math, it's a completely different upgrade approach here. Let's see!

Builder Base Upgrade Priorities

There are many different approaches to upgrade your buildings on the Builder Base. On this list I will share an aggressive upgrade order so you can progress on the game fast and don't struggle wasting too much time stuck on a Builder Hall level.

It's a list that will give you some challenges, but will not let the game be too slow and frustrating:

1. Collectors and Mines

2. Army Camp, Laboratory, Clock Tower and Battle Machine

3. Buildings required to upgrade your Builder Hall to the next level

4. Builder Hall

5. Defenses

6. Traps

7. Walls

1. Collectors and Mines

On Builder Base you can't farm and the loot is a fixed amount you can get according to your Trophies. For this reason, Collectors and Mines are much more important than on your Home Village. Upgrade to increase your resources ASAP.

2. Army Camp, Laboratory, Clock Tower and Battle Machine

These buildings affect the gameplay directly. Upgrading the Battle Machine and building all Army Camps will give you a significant upgrade on your attack. With better attacks you will be able to raise your Trophies and collect more loot.

3. Builder Hall vs Town Hall Differences

Well, here is the HUGE difference from your Home Village. Yes, on Builder Base I recommend rushing the Builder Hall.

The only buildings I recommend constructing and upgrading are the ones required to unlock the next Builder Hall level.

Here is why there is a big difference from Builder Hall and Town Hall upgrade order:

1. Loot Penalty: on your Home Village there is a loot penalty for attacking lower level players. On the Builder Base, there isn't. The loot is a fixed amount of Gold and Elixir based only on Trophy count.

2. Loot math: the higher your Town Hall, more loot available is available to be stolen so you will lose more on defense if you are not strong enough. On the Builder Base there is no such thing, the loot is not stolen from your base on defenses.

3. Search cost: skipping attacks on your Home Village costs more every time you upgrade your TH. On Builder Base, there is no skipping.

The Benefits of Rushing the BH

Clash of Clans | Builder Base | Strategy Guide | Upgrade Priorities |

There are several reasons to rush your BH. If you want to upgrade your village fast, my tip is to upgrade the Builder Hall as fast as possible:

1. Every time you reach a new BH level, new defenses are unlocked, giving you a huge boost to your defense.

2. Once you reach BH 4 you will unlock the 4th Army Camp. This is extremely important to get more Trophies and a better Win Bonus.

3. Once you reach BH 5 you will unlock the Mortar and Battle Machine. Well, get ready to boost your cups and improve your Win Bonus even more. But that’s not all, you will unlock a second Mine and Collector, giving you a great boost to your resources as well.

4. Keep in mind there is no farming on the Builder Village (see Loot System article). Everything you do must be only focus to improve your offense and defense to get more and more Trophies, improving your Win Bonus.

5. The best way to get more Trophies and Loot? Unlocking all army camps, all defenses, all troops and the Battle Machine as soon as possible!

The Problem of Rushing the Builder Hall

Builder Base - Strategy Guide - Upgrade Priorities | Clash of Clans

Even tough rushing the Builder Hall looks like an excellent idea, it's not perfect.

The main problem that affects this tactic is the matchmaking. Although the game looks for opponents with similar Trophy count as you, your Builder Hall level is also taken in consideration, but not *that* much. The game looks for opponents with the same Builder Hall level as you, so being a "rushed" BH will make things harder.

However, on my experience early upgrading my Builder Hall gave me big jumps on the Trophy count as I could unlock new defenses and improve my army, providing me much more loot and helping me to upgrade my village faster.

The battles are obviously harder, but the point here is to get more Trophies to increase the Win Bonus, so upgrading the Builder Hall early is a very effective way to do this.

For example, Clashers trying to max out the BH3 are still with Trophies. With my rushed BH5 I’m with Trophies, getting much more loot every day and spending it on more important defenses.

4. Defenses

At last, all defenses. This is very subjective and there really isn't any mistake you can make, but here is how I upgraded:

  1. Mega Tesla
  2. Roaster
  3. Giant Cannon
  4. Crushers
  5. Archer Tower
  6. Mortar
  7. Firecracker
  8. Cannon
  9. Hidden Tesla
  10. Double Cannon
  11. Guard Hut
  12. Traps

Clash of Clans Town Hall 6 Upgrade Order Priority Guide

Clash of Clans Town Hall 6 Upgrade Order Priority Guide

In Clash of Clans, Town Hall 6 is one of the more uneventful Town Hall levels. With very few new structures, it makes this upgrade priority guide very straightforward and easy to follow. Most players should have 3 builders by Town Hall 6, so the guide assumes this builder count.

Each builder should follow the recommended pathway below. When these high-priority Town Hall 6 upgrades are finished, those builders can then start working on the “tasks” listed later in this article, completing each task in order before moving on to the next task.

Builder #1. Laboratory –> Army Camp #2

The first builder should immediately begin work on upgrading the Laboratory. Researching new tiers of units is the biggest timesink at Town Hall 6, so it is important to upgrade the lab and start this research right away.

As soon as this builder is finished upgrading the lab, start researching one of the newly available unit upgrades. Have this builder then begin to upgrade one of the army camps up to the new max level (6).

Builder #2. Spell Factory –> Army Camp #3

The second builder should focus on upgrading the Spell Factory from level 1 to level 2. This will give the player access to the Healing Spell as well as allow the player to create two spells instead of just one. Healing Spells will significantly increase your farming capabilities and will make it easier to farm resources, which is why the Spell Factory is high on this list.

As soon as the Spell Factory is finished, this builder should then begin working on upgrading the final Army Camp to level 6.

Builder #3. Place New Walls –> Upgrade Army Camp #1 –> Upgrade Clan Castle

The third builder should begin work at Town Hall 6 by placing the new walls. Since all the upgrades we are focusing on first cost Elixir, it may be useful to dump some gold into these new walls and upgrade them a few levels.

As soon as the walls are placed, start upgrading the first Army Camp to level 6. Army Camps are a high-priority upgrade since the extra supply count will noticeably improve the strength of your attacks.

After the Army Camp is finished upgrading, have this builder start upgrading the Clan Castle. The extra 5 supply count offered by the upgraded Clan Castle will improve both offense and defense noticeably.

After High Priority TH6 Upgrades

As soon as each builder finishes his high-priority tasks above, start working on the tasks below, going through them in order.

Task #1. Adding New Towers & Rearrange Base

Players get access to a new Mortar and Wizard Tower at Town Hall 6. Start constructing these two towers. As soon as construction on these two towers has started, rearrange your base to match my recommended

TH6, the second most useless TH ever, only behind TH8. Nothing is offered here, no barch level, expensive and long camp upgrades and no hero to upgrade. You only get space here while you&#;re defending against space and a hero. There&#;s no point trying to defend because TH7 will always roflstomp you.

I&#;ll assume you have 3 builders, I had 4 which helped quite a lot.  Unfortunately, you can&#;t skip TH6 like that anymore because you need to drop all your new defenses. Unless you have 5 builders ready, you can&#;t just skip TH6 now. So if don&#;t have enough builders, just

First priority upgrades:

  1. Lab. Its actually almost useless here, but you&#;ll want lvl4 barch as soon as possible as a TH7, so that&#;s why you upgrade it.
  2. Spell factory. One of the only redeeming factors as a TH6, unlocking heal spells will prove to be very helpful on your journey.
  3. All new collectors, walls and traps
  4. All your new defenses (mortar, sweeper, wizard tower, air defense) in any order
  5. Town Hall. Once you complete all the above upgrades, start your TH upgrade and use your other builders to work on

Second priority upgrades:

  1. Unfortunately now you need to build all these to upgrade your TH
  2. CC. The second and last thing this TH is going to offer that&#;s good. 20 spaces allow you to fill 4 hogs/loons, 2 valks or 3 bowlers, make use of it and it&#;ll reward you.
  3. Storages. Just upgrade them to the highest level you can, not mandatory to max
  4. Don&#;t need to upgrade barracks anymore until TH7 at the very least

Third priority upgrades:

  1. Army camps. Usually army camps are a first priority upgrade, but 2 days and k for 5 space is crazy when as a new TH7, you&#;ll get 30 space for 1 hr and 30k. You can do 1 or 2 camps as a TH6 if your time permits you, but there&#;s no need to max it because TH7 is much better.
  2. Collectors. Well, you can catch up on your new collectors, but no need to max them. Loot is good and time is of essence.
  3. Defenses. Not important at all, you&#;ll get thrashed anyway as a maxed TH6 or a new TH7 or a maxed TH7.

Walls:

You should be doing walls all throughout TH6, save up in between upgrades and spend it all on walls before doing your next upgrade. Almost all upgrades are elixir based, so the extra gold should be pumped towards walls.

Lab:

Anything you like would do, there really isn&#;t anything necessary that you need. I personally did wiz lvl3, heal lvl2, zap lvl2, heal lvl3 for a total of 6 days.

Farming:

You can now graduate to using barch. Learn this strategy well and it can carry you all the way to TH12! The basic concept is simple, a row of barbs followed by a row of archers. Barbs shield for archers while they take out the first layer and hopefully strong enough to hit the layer behind the walls. Looks for bases which offer k each or k of your desired resource

Recommended stay time: 6 days (all of that in TH upgrade time)

Minimum upgrades: All first priority upgrades, maxed CC, maxed storage capacity

This is what my base looked like when it upgraded to TH7. As you can tell from my tone of this entire guide, I hate TH6 a lot. This is the TH that I felt, the first time round, that defenses are futile and useless. Your defenses tend to defend against your same TH, but in regular matchmaking, only bullies would hit you. Your TH6 base is designed to stop space and lvl3 troops, but your attackers will have space, lvl4 troops and a hero.
